A Note from the Editor
It hardly seems possible that a year has gone by since I sat chewing the end of my pen and wondering what to write in the first Editor’s Note in the first issue of Focus on Menorca (metaphorically speaking, as I was actually writing it on a computer!) But it has, and today the magazine celebrates its first birthday!
We’ve had our share of hiccups and teething problems during the year but these are gradually being sorted out and the learning curve is becoming more of a gentle slope. Some changes have been made to the magazine over the months, mainly as a result of suggestions or observations from readers, for which we thank you - please keep your ideas coming in.
Our faithful contributors have, as always, been typing their fingers to the bone on our behalf and this month sees more news on fund-raising for the R & R visit, the Red Cross and Age Concern, plus news from the Europeans for Spain Association, reminiscences from the Barnsley Marinero, a spoof on island place names and further details on the celebrations planned to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 300th anniversary of Richard Kane’s arrival on Menorca, plus the regular features, such as a round-up of the island news, puzzles etc.
I hope you enjoy reading the magazine as much as I enjoy putting it together.
Happy reading!
